A Nigerian delegation just went to Rome and came home with world titles.

A 145-member Nigerian delegation competed against students from 54 countries at the International STEM Olympiad Grand Finals in Rome this month. They came home with world titles, Top Three global rankings, and a long list of medals across Mathematics, Science, Coding, Engineering and AI Prompt Engineering.

The team from The Ambassadors College won the World's Best award in the Bridge Challenge, a category that tests engineering and teamwork under pressure. That team was Amaechi Udochukwu, Oluwaseyi Odewoye and Obosi-Iyor Inino. Seven Nigerian secondary schools sent students, from Lagos to Port Harcourt. The Ambassadors College alone brought home 15 gold, nine silver, nine bronze and one honourable mention.

Balex Events and Tours, which has coordinated Nigeria's participation for five years, called it proof of the talent already sitting inside Nigerian classrooms. That talent competed against 54 countries in mathematics, science, coding, engineering and AI prompt engineering, and did not simply take part. It won outright in some categories.

None of these students needed a court order or a presidential visit to prove what they could do. They needed a room, a fair competition, and a chance to show it. They took that chance and beat 53 other countries doing it.
