Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena was the kind of game that takes a while to process.
Bayern trailed three times. Real went ahead through Arda Guler in the first minute, a finish so early it felt like a statement. Bayern levelled through Aleksandar Pavlovic. Guler scored again from a free kick. Harry Kane made it 2-2. Then Kylian Mbappe, set up perfectly by Vinicius Jr, made it 3-2 to Real going into the break.
Bayern needed two goals. They scored them both in the last five minutes of the game.
Luis Diaz in the 89th minute. Michael Olise in stoppage time. Bayern win 4-3 on the night, 6-4 on aggregate. Real Madrid, fifteen European Cups, are out.
Eduardo Camavinga was sent off in the 86th minute and Real's coach said it "ruined" the tie. Jude Bellingham called the decision "a joke." Bayern went through regardless.
The other game was less spectacular. Arsenal beat Sporting CP 1-0 on aggregate after a goalless draw at the Emirates. Arteta's side were poor on the night. They held on. That's the full summary.
The semi-finals: PSG vs Bayern Munich. Atletico Madrid vs Arsenal.
