Three things from this week worth carrying into Saturday.

1. A ₦10 billion threat and a court date

Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila has threatened Adeyemi with a ₦10 billion defamation suit over the bribery allegations Adeyemi made against him. Adeyemi's own criminal court date is now confirmed for 27 July. Two legal fronts, same two men, same underlying story. One is a defamation claim that could take years to resolve in the ordinary way these things move. The other is a criminal case with an actual date on the calendar now. Watch which one moves first.

2. Petrol drops a naira, diesel climbs

Dangote Refinery trimmed its ex depot petrol price by ₦1 a litre on Wednesday, even as diesel prices climbed across several Lagos depots the same day. A small cut and a rise sitting in the same market report. Neither one, on its own, tells you where prices are actually heading this month. What it does tell you is that the relief at the pump and the cost of moving goods around the country are no longer travelling in the same direction. Anyone budgeting off last month's numbers should check this week's instead.

3. Africa gets eleven minutes at the World Cup final

Burna Boy is confirmed for the first ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show on 19 July, sharing the MetLife Stadium stage with Shakira, Madonna, Bieber and BTS. Eleven minutes, and one of them is Nigerian. He gets there off the back of "Dai Dai," his song with Shakira, which has held the number one spot on the global charts for two weeks running. That is worth noticing on its own terms, no comparison needed to make it land.
