Lagos gave secondary and tertiary students a competition. They made things. The government noticed them.

The second edition of the Lagos Schools Arts and Crafts Competition was held this week at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa. The theme was This Is Lagos. Students across junior secondary, senior secondary, and tertiary institutions competed in painting, drawing, sculpture, beadwork, textile design, leatherwork, digital art, and upcycling. Winners were awarded tuition scholarships for the next academic session by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

This is a small story. It is also exactly the thing that goes unrecorded while the building collapses get the coverage they deserve. Somewhere in Lagos this week, a student submitted a sculpted object or a textile design and heard back from their government. They saw it. It was good. Here is what we are giving you to keep going.
