CHELSEA’S WORST RUN SINCE 1912

Ferdi Kadioglu scored in the third minute. Jack Hinshelwood added a second on 56. Danny Welbeck sealed it in the 90th.

Brighton beat Chelsea 3-0 at the Amex on Tuesday night.

Chelsea didn't register a single shot on target all night.

That makes it five straight Premier League losses without scoring a goal. The last time Chelsea had a run this bad was 1912. One hundred and fourteen years ago.

Cole Palmer, Estêvão, and João Pedro all missed the match through injury. Manager Liam Rosenior was chanted off by Chelsea's own travelling supporters. The crowd at the Amex was gleefully reminding him that Brighton is where he started his playing career and his coaching career. He stood on the touchline while his employers sang the other club's praises.

Chelsea are now seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, having played a game more. Champions League qualification, which was the stated ambition at the start of the season, is now theoretical.

The only thing standing between Chelsea and a fully collapsed season is the four matches remaining and the slim possibility that the clubs above them also fall apart. That is not a plan. It's a weather forecast.
