Two moves defined the week. On September 30, Tony Elumelu's Heirs Energies bought six million more Seplat Energy shares at £8.87 each, about £53.2m, lifting the combined holding of the companies he controls to 21.07% of the oil producer. Seplat's board has named him chairman from January 1, 2027.

Five days earlier, on September 25, George Ilenikhena had scored on his first cap for Nigeria, an equaliser at 45+1 against Madagascar in Uyo. Nigeria won 2-1. Sixteen days before that goal he had posted a photo of himself in a Super Eagles shirt. On September 29 Nigeria lost 3-0 at Guinea-Bissau, and Ilenikhena was not in the starting XI.
