Simi and Adekunle Gold just quietly became a family of four.
On Wednesday, Simi posted on Instagram. No announcement. No build-up. Just maternity photos. Clean, spare, denim-themed. And a caption that said what it needed to say. "+1. 3.10.26. God bless my little family. #mommyof2."
The baby arrived on March 10. Simi kept it to herself for three weeks before telling anyone. That's not unusual for her. She and Adekunle Gold revealed the pregnancy itself inside a music video, which is the kind of move that only works if you're both artists who understand that the form is the message.
Adekunle Gold, who has been releasing music under his Fuji album and is about as Nigerian as it gets, commented one thing. "Daddy of 2, and My Baby Omo Nla."
The internet did what the internet does. Ladipoe called the baby "Duduke Pt. 2." Temi Otedola said beautiful. The comment section became a place where people were just happy for two people for a few hours.
They've been married since 2019. Their first daughter, Adejare, is six. They navigated rumours of a divorce earlier this year, appeared together at a moon-sighting for Eid, and released a song that answered the rumours without addressing them. The couple that tells their story through their art, not despite it.
In a week with burning vehicles and unpaid obligations and advisory notices and locked gates, this is the thing that arrived clean.
Congratulations to them.
